FISCHBEIN MODEL F SERIES BAG CLOSER SEWING MACHINE

The Fischbein Model F is a hand-held, portable industrial sewing machine that closes filled bags with a single-thread chain stitch. Weighing just 11 pounds and sewing at 1,800 stitches per minute, it is the most widely used portable bag closer in North America — and it is built in the United States. HS Automation is Canada’s largest authorized distributor of Fischbein (an nVenia brand) equipment, and we stock parts, supply thread and tape, and service every Model F we sell.

Watch the Model F close a bag from start to finish. One pass, one operator, a sealed bag in seconds.

What Is the Model F?

The Fischbein Model F is a portable bag closing machine — a hand-held industrial sewing head that an operator guides across the open top of a filled bag to stitch it shut. It replaces hand-tying, taping and heat sealing on lines where bag volume does not justify a fixed, in-line bag closing system.

The Model F sews a Type 101 single-thread chain stitch, the standard closure for industrial bags. It handles multiwall paper, woven polypropylene, laminated woven polypropylene, burlap and jute — the full range of bag materials used in agriculture, food processing, chemicals and building products.

Because it is portable, the Model F goes where the work is. There is no fixed installation, no conveyor to build around it, and no minimum throughput required to justify it.

Why the Model F Is the Best Portable Bag Closer on the Market?

Portable bag closers are simple machines, which makes the differences between them easy to overlook until you have run one for a season. Here is what separates the Model F:

  • It is built in the United States. The Model F is manufactured in the USA. That matters for parts availability, for build consistency, and for plants with domestic sourcing requirements.
  • It weighs 11 pounds. Light enough for an operator to hold through a full shift without fatigue, which is the single most common complaint about heavier portable closers.
  • It sews 1,800 stitches per minute. At four stitches per inch, that closes 35 feet of bag top every minute — far faster than hand closing, and fast enough to keep up with most manual bagging operations.
  • Parts are available and standardized. Fischbein has been the industry standard for decades. Needles, loopers, feed dogs and thread are stocked items, not special orders.
  • It adapts as you grow. The same head can be hand-held today, hung from a suspension unit tomorrow, and mounted to a Fischbein carriage conveyor when your volume increases.

The Crepe Tape Attachment

For applications that need a sealed, sift-resistant closure, the Model F is available with a crepe tape attachment. The assembly adds a tape roll holder and a tape folder for 2-inch crepe tape that folds over the top of the bag before the needle passes through, so the stitch line runs through both the tape and the bag.

A taped closure gives you:

  • A tighter seal on the bag top, reducing product sifting through the stitch holes
  • Added strength across the closure, which helps with heavier fills and rough handling
  • A cleaner, more finished appearance on retail and branded bags

Crepe tape is available in natural kraft and white. A Model F with the tape attachment typically runs 2 to 3 bags per minute. We stock crepe tape and sewing thread — see our Thread & Tape page for current stock.

Common Applications for the Model F

The Model F closes bags anywhere product is filled in modest volumes or in a location where a fixed closing line does not make sense:

  • Agriculture — seed, grain, animal feed, fertilizer
  • Food processing — flour, sugar, rice, pulses, spice and powder blends
  • Pet food — dry pet food in multiwall paper and woven polypropylene
  • Chemicals and minerals — powders, granules, plastic resins
  • Building products — sand bags and geotextiles
  • Seasonal and overflow production — as a backup to an automated line, or for short runs and trial batches

If you are already running an automated bagging line, the Model F is also the machine most plants keep on hand for rework, off-spec bags and line-down situations.

Three Ways to Run the Model F

Hand-held. The operator carries the machine to the bag. Best for low volumes, mixed bag sizes and multiple filling points.

Suspension mounted. The machine hangs from a spring balancer above the work station, taking the weight off the operator while leaving full freedom of movement. This is the most common setup for steady daily production.

Carriage conveyor mounted. The head mounts over a Fischbein carriage conveyor so bags feed through the machine on a belt. This is the step toward a semi-automated closing line, and it uses the same sewing head you already own.

Parts and Service from HS Automation

Buying the machine is the easy part. Keeping it running is what determines whether it was a good purchase.

HS Automation is Canada’s largest authorized distributor of Fischbein (an nVenia brand). That means:

  • Genuine Fischbein parts in stock — needles, loopers, thread guides, feed dogs and wear components ship from our inventory, not from a back order. See our Fischbein Parts page.
  • Thread and crepe tape supply — we stock the consumables so your closure quality stays consistent. See Thread & Tape.
  • Service and repair — our technicians work on Fischbein machines every week.
  • Manuals and documentation — parts breakdowns and operator manuals are on our Fischbein Manuals page.
  • Operator training — we will show your people how to thread it, adjust it and maintain it.

We are a family-run company with over 100 combined years in bag filling, bag closing and grain and seed processing. When you call, you reach someone who has worked on the machine. Contact us today to talk through your line and get a quote on a Model F.
